Apple Cake is a popular dessert and produced with the main ingredient of apple. Traditional apple cakes go a step further by including various spices such as nutmeg or cinnamon, which give off a unique flavour, in addition to that, the batter can also be accompanied by crushed nuts, the most popular being walnuts and almonds.

But in our cake we add vanila extract and shredded coconut for pleasant flavour and sweet smell. It is very famous Christmas recipe and it is usually served at Hanukkah. It is best eaten within a few days of cooking.

Ingredients: 

  • 2 cups sugar (or according to taste)
  • 1 ½ cups vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 cups diced apple
  • 1 cups crushed walnuts
  • 1 cup shredded coconut

Method: 

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine flour, salt, and baking soda and set aside.
  • In a larger bowl, beat together sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla.
  • Then add flour mix and stir well.
  • Add apple, walnut, and coconut and mix well.
  • Pour cake mix in a greased tube pan.
  • Bake 1 hour 15minutes at 350 degrees until knife inserted in center should come out clean.

 

Peach Melba Trifle

Peach Melba has a sweet story behind it. This classic dessert was originally invented in London, to honor the Australian Soprano, Dame Nelli Melba (1861-1931). Its original flavor consist of two all time favorites summer fruits peaches and rashberry sauce accompanying with vanilla ice cream. Now it has a different form and preparation method based on the ingredients available. It is really a all time favorite among people in the west.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 (14-oz.) can Eagle Brand condensed milk
  • 1 ½ cups of water
  • 1 (3 ¾ -oz.) pkg. instant vanilla pudding and pie filling mix
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 1 (10-oz.) prepared angel food cake
  • 1 ½ lbs. can sliced peaches

Method: 

  • In a large bowl, combine Eagle Brand condensed milk and water and mix well.
  • Then, add pudding mix and blend well.
  • Chill 5 minutes.
  • Mix whipped cream.
  • Cut cake in ¼-inch slices and line them on a 13x9x2 inch pan.
  • Top with half the peaches and half of pudding mixture.
  • Repeat layers.
  • Then refrigerate for at least 6 hours.

Zucchini Soup

(Simple Zucchini Soup)

This zucchini soup is very easy to make and it is very rich in taste and famous soup. It has a nice flavor in it, since it does not have lot of incredients, it is favorite among all.

 Ingredients: 

  • 3 cups chopped zucchini (unpeeled)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese
  • Dash of dill
  • Dash of curry powder (optional)

Method: 

  • In a sauce pan, heat chicken broth and zucchini for 20 minutes.
  • Add dill and curry powder and cool slightly.
  • Pour this mixture and cream cheese into the blender and blend.
  • Then serve.

 

French Onion Soup

French Onion Soup is very popular among soups and the modern version of this soup originated in France in the 17th century, made from dry bread or croutons, beef broth, and caramelized onions.

French onion soup is an onion and beef broth based soup with croutons and cheese as toppings. They were, throughout history, seen as food for the poor people, as onions were plentiful and easy to grow. Onion soups have been popular at least as far back as Roman times.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 ½ lbs. onion
  • ¼ cup oil
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 4 cups water
  • 5 slices bread
  • ½ cup shredded cheese

Method: 

  • Thinly slice onions.
  • In a sauce pan, heat oil.
  • Add onions and cook until golden brown.
  • Keep pan covered and stir often.
  • Add water and bouillon cubes.
  • Simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Pour soup into individual soup bowls.
  • Place a piece of bread in each and top with cheese.
  • Brown for a few minutes, under the broiler until the cheese melts.
  • Serve at once.

 

Baked Chicken Salad

Baked chicken salad recipe is a baked chicken with mayonnaise, chicken, and cheddar cheese, sliced salary, tomato slices, potato chips along with seasonings and bread crumbs for topping.

 Ingredients: 

  • 3 cups diced cooked chicken
  • 1 ½ cups sliced celery
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • Dash of pepper
  • 6 tomato slices
  • 2 cups potato chips
  • Mayonnaise

Method: 

  • Combine chicken, celery, ½ cup cheese, onion, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Then, add enough mayonnaise and toss lightly.
  • Place in a shallow 1 ½ -quart casserole dish.
  • Top with tomato slices.
  • Bake 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • Combine remaining cheese and potato chips.
  • Sprinkle on casserole.
  • Return to oven until cheese melts.
Asparagus Salad

Ingredients for salad:

  • 1 lb. fresh asparagus
  • 3 cups lettuce
  • 2 oranges, peeled and separated into sections
  • 6 salad tomatoes cut into half
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Ingredients for dressing: 

  • 2 tbsp. orange juice
  • 2 tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • pepper to taste

Method:

  • Steam the asparagus for about 5 minutes until tender-crisp and chill.
  • Cut the cooked asparagus into 1 inch pieces and put in a bowl.
  • Then add orange sections, lettuce and walnuts.
  • In a small bowl, combine all the dressing ingredients and mix well.
  • Then, add the dressing to the salad.
  • Serve on a salad plate.

 

Potato Salad

Ingredients for salad: 

  • 6 potatoes, boiled and diced
  • 3 boiled eggs, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • ½ cup green pepper, diced

Ingredients for dressing: 

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. vinegar
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Method: 

  • Combine all salad ingredients in a large bowl.
  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, vinegar, salt and pepper and mix well.
  • Pour the dressing over the salad and mix well.
  • Refrigerate overnight before serving.
Cucumber Salad

Ingredients for salad: 

  • 2 large cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

Ingredients for dressing: 

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. dill weed
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. sugar

Method: 

  • Combine the cucumbers and onions in a serving bowl.
  • In a small bowl, mix all the dressing ingredients until sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to combine.
  • Serve on a salad plate.
Egg Salad

 

(Egg Salad) 

Ingredients for salad: 

  • 6 boiled eggs, chopped
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped

Ingredients for dressing: 

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method: 

  • Combine the eggs, onions and celery in a medium serving bowl.
  • In a small bowl, combine all the dressing ingredients and mix well.
  • Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to combine.
  • Serve on a salad plate.
  • Serves for 4.
